A few weeks ago I helped throw a surprise baby shower for a close friend who was expecting her first child.
We planned everything with a small group of friends. One of us gently persuaded the mom-to-be to step out for a while, and the rest of us quietly entered her home to decorate and prepare for the party. With everyone pitching in, the house was soon transformed and ready for a cozy celebration.
We hosted a high tea, and I volunteered to make the sweet treats. A few friends handled the savory dishes, so we had a well-balanced spread throughout the afternoon.
For desserts I made several bavarois, muffins, brownies and cookies. I also put together a small, simple cake that turned out quite cute. Everything came together nicely, and my friend was genuinely surprised and delighted by the food and decorations.
It was a wonderful day, full of laughter and warmth, and I left excited to meet the new baby. Her daughter arrived last weekend, and although I haven’t had a chance to visit yet, I’m eagerly looking forward to meeting her soon.
