Three simple ingredients are all you need for an irresistible fall treat. This easy 3 Ingredient Apple Spice Dump Cake is full of autumn flavors and is one of the simplest desserts you can make this season.

Apple desserts are some of my favorites. I love a classic Dutch apple pie, but this dump cake is quickly becoming a new favorite for its ease and comforting flavor.
If you want a fast, crowd-pleasing dessert, this recipe is for you. With just three pantry-friendly ingredients you’ll get a warm, spiced treat perfect for fall gatherings.
How to make this Apple Spice Dump Cake:
A Dump Cake is exactly what it sounds like: you “dump” the components into a baking dish, spread them out, and bake. No mixing bowl required.
After arranging the ingredients in the pan, simply bake until the top is golden and the filling is bubbly.
This version is especially simple because it uses only three ingredients.

Ingredient Notes:
- Apple pie filling – Use two 21-oz cans of apple pie filling for the best coverage and flavor.
- Spice cake mix – Any brand of spice cake mix (15.25 oz) works well; it provides the sweet, spiced topping.
- Butter – Melted butter (3/4 cup) poured over the cake mix creates a crisp, golden crust.

Directions:
Step One – Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9×13-inch casserole dish with non-stick spray or lightly grease it.
Step Two – Pour the two cans of apple pie filling into the prepared dish and spread evenly.

Step Three – Evenly sprinkle the dry spice cake mix over the apple filling, covering the surface as much as possible.

Step Four – Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the cake mix so it soaks through and helps form a crisp topping.
Recipe Tip
After pouring the butter, tilt the pan gently so the butter reaches any dry spots. This ensures the cake mix browns evenly and you avoid dry areas.

Bake for 30–35 minutes, until the top is golden and the filling is bubbling. Let cool slightly, then serve warm.
Optional: Top with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for extra indulgence.

What’s special about a Dump Cake?
Dump Cakes are a cross between a cobbler and a cake. They pair a fruit or pie-style filling with a box cake mix and some fat, creating a sweet, textured dessert without the fuss of traditional baking.
They’re deliciously sweet and pair perfectly with a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

How do you store a dump cake?
Because this dessert contains fruit filling, store leftovers in the refrigerator. Cover the dish or transfer the cake to an airtight container. It will keep for up to 7 days, though it’s best within the first few days.

Try some other Dump Cake variations:
Cherry Dump Cake – An easy four-ingredient dessert that’s wonderful topped with vanilla ice cream.
Peach Dump Cake – A perfect summer dessert that’s quick to assemble and delicious with a scoop of ice cream.
Pumpkin Spice Dump Cake – A fall favorite that brings warm pumpkin spice flavor with minimal effort.
