Matcha Banana Mango Kale Smoothie Recipe

Homemade Healthy Matcha, Banana, Mango and Kale Smoothie Recipe

Healthy, delicious, and refreshing…

Those three words come to mind every time I taste this Matcha, Banana, Mango and Kale smoothie. It’s a vibrant combination of flavors and textures that works equally well for breakfast, as a snack, or after a workout. I often make a larger batch because my family loves it and we like to try small variations each time.

This simple smoothie delivers a balance of fruit sweetness, mild earthiness from matcha, and the green freshness of kale. It mixes easily and is forgiving to substitutions, so you can tailor it to your pantry or dietary preferences.

I make smoothies regularly — not just as a cooling summer drink but also as a convenient, nutritious grab-and-go meal or snack. Making them at home means you control the ingredients, avoid added preservatives, and can adjust sweetness and texture exactly to your taste.

Experimenting with different fruit and greens is part of the fun. This recipe is a great base: keep the proportions, then swap in what you have on hand. Use yogurt or a milk alternative for creaminess, or water and ice for a lighter version. Sweeten with a touch of honey, maple syrup, or a sugar-free option like stevia if you prefer.

I enjoy watching how different fruits and greens blend together — sometimes a little cantaloupe brightens the mango, or frozen fruit makes the smoothie thicker and more like a sorbet. The matcha adds a subtle grassy note and a pleasant green color that pairs surprisingly well with tropical fruit.

This recipe is versatile: add a scoop of protein powder after workouts, stir in seeds for extra fiber and healthy fats, or top with nuts for crunch. It’s quick to prepare, satisfying, and feels indulgent without being heavy.

A tasty, quick recipe for a simple Matcha, Banana, Mango, and Kale smoothie that’s easy to customize and perfect for any time of day.

Ingredients

  • 1 banana
  • 1/4 mango (or a few slices of fresh or frozen mango)
  • 1 cup kale (stems removed)
  • 2 teaspoons premium green tea powder (matcha)
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 10 fl oz almond milk (or cashew, soy, or regular milk)
  • Sweeten to taste (honey, maple syrup, or stevia)

Seeds:

  • Optional: flaxseed, chia seeds, or any seeds you have on hand

Instructions

  1. Place the banana, mango, kale, matcha powder, ice, and almond milk into your blender.
  2. Blend on high until the mixture is smooth and creamy, about one to two minutes depending on your blender.
  3. Pause and taste. Add your preferred sweetener if needed, and blend briefly to combine.
  4. Pour into a glass and enjoy immediately for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

I typically use a high-powered blender but this smoothie also works well in smaller personal blenders. If you don’t eat mango, substitute cantaloupe or pineapple. Swap kale for spinach if you prefer a milder green—frozen spinach works fine and gives a thicker texture. Add a scoop of protein powder for a post-workout boost, or a tablespoon of nut butter for extra richness. If the smoothie is too thick, thin it with a splash of water or additional milk.
